Troubleshooting
Fixes for sign-in, connection, sandbox and install problems.
"Not signed in"
Run halo login, or /login inside the shell. If you use the Memcode CLI,
memcode login works too.
"The Halo service is unreachable"
Check your connection, then halo status. Commands you run with $ keep working
without the service.
"That isn't something Halo can do yet"
The request is outside what Halo handles during Preview. Try a simpler phrasing,
split it into steps, or see Supported tasks. /feedback wrong what you meant tells us.
Halo asks a question instead of acting
The request could mean more than one thing. Answer the question, or say it more specifically.
"Not confined" or sandbox errors
Halo runs commands inside the OS sandbox and will not run them if it cannot set
one up. On Linux install bubblewrap. On a machine where no sandbox is possible,
halo --unconfined lets you approve each unconfined run individually.
"This client's operations differ from the service's"
Your Halo is out of date. Run halo upgrade.
Installer: "signature not checked"
macOS's bundled OpenSSL cannot check the release signature; the checksum is still
verified. Install OpenSSL 3 (brew install openssl) or use
HALO_REQUIRE_SIGNATURE=1, and run halo upgrade, which always checks it.
