Halo
Models
What a Halo model is, and how to pin one.
A Halo model identifies a stable interpretation behavior: how Halo reads what you ask. Pin a model when reproducibility matters.
- Model IDs are stable. A model ID always behaves the same way. New behavior gets a new ID; an ID is never reused.
- A session keeps its model. Halo picks the model when a session starts and never switches it mid-session.
- No silent fallback. If the model you ask for is not available, Halo says so (
model_not_available) instead of using another one. - Updates are separate. Updating Halo or the Agent SDK never changes which model you selected.

Choosing a model
If you choose nothing, a session uses the default model and pins it when it starts. To pin one explicitly:
- Agent SDK:
halo.Options{Model: "halo-orbit-preview"}(Agent SDK). - Command line: coming in the next client release.
halo status shows the model your session uses.
